…………a superb combinations of duets, solo by other male and female singers especially by karthikeyan, preethi (I forgot the names of others)

loud applause by the audiences (including me) for each and every song.

All started before even starting the program formally. When the violin artists group tested a rehearsal of a piece, screams and claps everywhere. And it ended in admirable fashion when the maestro thanked the audience with high lift of his folded hands.

Some chips…

-         the live concert started aptly with a song sung by the maestro comfortably sitting and dedicatedly sung the devotional song “janani janani…..” and the show ended with greetings to the new year by SPB with the song from evergreen sagalakala vallavan film.

-         before the maestro appeared, hungary musicians performed and dedicated 3 composings to our “Isaignani”. Later in the concert, they were individually introduced by Isaignani asking them to spell their names by themselves.

-         To show that without team work nothing can succeed and to be a leader in control, Ilayaraja introduced some of the long serving persons in the orchestra such as a performer who is performing from the time of the film Vanchikottai valliban, son of violinist legend Kunnakudi Vaidyanathan, son of music director Sudharshan, and a prominent violinist in his team also the conductor of the orchestra working for many years.

-         It is no doubt that those who attended the live concert, will never forget the amount of hardwork involved in recording the songs, getting the sync correct, technical issues, and above all the team work which yielded golden hits of Ilayaraja.

-         True qualities of legends in their respective field were observed and showcased, when Mr.K.J.Yesudas, struggled initially with one or two songs, Raja sir lighted fire among the audiences like roaring and yearning for more and more when second half of the song poove semboove was repeated till the song was timed right by Mr.Yesudas. It showed, recordings are not easier and the importance of synchronization in live concerts. Obviously showed the quality of Ilayaraja on how a tough task master he is to work with.

-         Even Mr. Hariharan too was not with rhythm in Hey Ram song, but given his reputation as I mentioned the quality of legends, he won the hearts with the impeccable delivery of en mana vaanil song from the film kasi.

-         What is the highlight of the show? I can say, Dr. Balamuralikrishna’s song from Kavikuyil. Given his age and experience, and the times when singers are getting struggled to perform live show, he delivered a master piece, true to his high reputation. The audience went appreciating whenever he hold his breath to deliver the song uninterruptedly.

-         Ilayaraja fondly referred Mr.K.J.Yesudas and Dr. Balamuralikrishna as “anna”. Even Mr.K.J.Yesudas mentioned and recalled on how they struggled in initial days of their music lives (of him and Ilayaraja)

-         The spirit of friendship was also strengthened from a song sung from Kozhi koovuthu. Ilayaraja remembered his friend Mr.Malaysia Vasudaven, and told a short story on how he became singer.

-         How come without SPB in Ilayaraja’s stage? They shared a good rapport as always. Pulling their legs each every time, showed their friendship and comic sense to the huge audience.

-         If last time was a song from three notes, this time it was from 2 notes and why not, in 1 note also.

-         Maestro’s wife was remembered in this show and a journey about Ilayaraja’s life in brief was projected. The only other projection is from greetings is from Kalaignani Kamalhaasan. Yuvan later mimicked about Kamal and drew applauses before singing two songs from Kamal films.

-         Audiences stuck came well in advance and stuck in their seats till 12 midnight without any tiredness, and this is the one show you can even sit for another 2 or 3 hours.

-         Director S.P.Muthuraman sir, music director Devi shri Prasad and James vasanthan were some celebrities attended this event.

I lived on that moment, by cutting my external work connections, switching off the mobile before the start of the show and switching on after the end of the show. It cant be expressed in words, like hearing 10 kavithai’s at one time……………..to say in Ilayaraja’s words

Complex pain relief surgery performed at private hospital

Source: The Hindu, Chennai edition, June 2022 The patient was suffering from a brachial plexus injury Doctors at Kauvery Hospital here have performed a complex spinal surgery to relive the excruciating pain in the limbs of a 24-year-old man suffering from brachial plexus injury. A release from the hospital said the youngster met with a road accident three years ago, which resulted in an injury to the brachial plexus, a network of nerves responsible for carrying signals from the spinal cord to the shoulders and arms. G. Balamurali , consultant spine and neurosurgeon at the hospital, said when a person suffered damages to the brachial plexus, it would cause extreme pain and weakness of the limbs. “The pain experienced is so severe that some patients want their limbs removed,” he said. 55-year-old man undergoes aortic valve replacement

Source: The Hindu , Chennai edition,  FRIDAY JULY 22, 2022   A 55-year-old man, who had underdeveloped limbs and was born with a single kidney, underwent an aortic valve replacement surgery at MadrasMedical Mission (MMM) . Doctors decided against Transcatheter Aortic ValveImplantation (TAVI) considering the risks involved due to his multiple co-morbidities and opted for surgical replacement with a tissue valve. The patient has deformities in his left upper and lower limbs due to a condition called phocomelia , where the limbs are underdeveloped. This deformity was the side effect of the drug Thalidomide given for morning sickness during pregnancy in the 1950s and 1960s. He was born with a single kidney and has had episodes of pancreatitis for which stents were placed, a press release said.
